The A.I.S.E. agenda for sustainable cleaning

Developing the agenda
Since its foundation in 1952, A.I.S.E. has been committed to protecting consumers and the environment.
Supported by its members, A.I.S.E. has a long and successful track record of acting in a pro-active manner in the interests of the environment and sustainability in general.

In recognition of the political growing awareness around the world of the importance of climate change and sustainable development, A.I.S.E. redefined in 2001 its mission, vision statements and developed the “Agenda for Responsible Sustainable Cleaning”; this continues to be the main driver for A.I.S.E.’s work.  The Agenda for Responsible Sustainable Cleaning has sustainable development as its core objective. It is supported by two pillars of activity: developing and promoting voluntary actions and partnering with stakeholders at EU and local level to ensure a balanced regulatory framework in line with industry vision.

A.I.S.E.’s aim is to reach these goals by adhering to principles that support and promote sustainable development in its various forms:

A Framework for Delivering Sustainable Cleaning

The A.I.S.E. Agenda for Sustainable Cleaning governs all of the Association’s activities.  This is represented by the “house chart” which contains all of the elements of A.I.S.E’s engagement ‘under one roof’.

The roof is our industry vision which sets out the following goals:

  • the development and provision of products essential to society
  • a better quality of life through the improvement of public health and hygiene
  • the maintenance of human and environmental safety
  • the improvement of environmental quality

Economic:
by ensuring that the success of the industry is based on ethical standards, thereby building a sustainable industry which supports a sustainable economy and strengthens growth.

Social:
by developing voluntary actions over and above basic legal requirements, in order to support a sustainable society in which there is a high standard of public health, hygiene and safety.

Environmental:
by striving to be an environmentally-sound industry, reducing the potential ecological impact of detergents and maintenance products throughout the product life-cycle, and by using the Earth’s resources in a responsible way.
