In its Resource efficiency roadmap recently issued in September 2011, the Commission was stating: “If we carry on using resources at the current rate, by 2050, we will need, on aggregate, the equivalent of more than two planets to sustain us, and the aspirations of many for a better quality of life will not be achieved”.
The period that we are currently living is critical. Critical and challenging at the same time, requiring all actors of society to take a responsible and proactive role in leading the necessary changes that are ahead of us… A few months before the release of the new Sustainable Consumption and Production Action Plan, and the Earth Summit of RIO + 20, the A.I.S.E. Information Day will focus in particular on the role that industry can have, inviting all participants to contribute to the topic: “Resource efficiency, green economy and SCP: What can industry bring ahead of RIO +20?”
Speakers at the event will include Members of the European Parliament, senior European Commission representatives, Member States and Industry.
The A.I.S.E. annual information day event is an opportunity for the detergents and maintenance products industry in Europe to share its main priorities with EU stakeholders and all interested audiences. The event addresses the topics of sustainability, consumer and customer communication, chemicals safety both through regulatory and voluntary developments. In particular, MEPs and their assistants, European Commission officials, NGOs, Trade Bodies, Permanent Representatives, Academia, Scientists and the Media will find this event of great value and are encouraged to attend.
A cocktail at the end of the event will provide participants with an opportunity to meet industry members and to discuss topics presented at the conference.
