A.I.S.E. REACH implementation and communication support

REACH

The REACH regulation entered into force on 1st June 2007. It is now down to the companies to ensure that the regulation is correctly implemented.

REACH and A.I.S.E

We want REACH to be a success and are therefore committed to its effective implementation. A.I.S.E. members have to deal with many aspects of REACH: registration, downstream user duties, communication in the supply chain and to consumers. A.I.S.E. is actively involved in the implementation of the REACH Regulation. We believe that REACH is a significant opportunity to build consumer and end-user confidence in chemicals. Activities include developing guidance for members and also contributing to workshops with suppliers and authorities on exposure scenario's in order to initiate and develop workable solutions for companies to comply with REACH. A.I.S.E. is contributing to the consultation launched by the European Commission on the review of REACH.

Exposure Assessment

To support suppliers/registrants (manufacturers and importers) prepare their chemical safety assessments and reports, A.I.S.E. has developed comprehensive and generic use information to assist in exposure assessment for substances used in the cleaning and maintenance products sector. A.I.S.E. also assist member companies with an understanding of their duties when receiving exposure scenario's (ES) from suppliers, as well as how to interpret the information and check if uses are adequately covered in order to adapt and further distribute down the supply chain. A.I.S.E. has worked with ECHA on exemplification of ES for consumer and professional cleaning. The ES and learnings are available from the ECHA website.  To access the information on use and exposure information click here.

Interacting with external Stakeholders

A.I.S.E. is working in close dialogue with ECHA and all interested parties to ensure that REACH is effectively implemented.
A.I.S.E. takes part in several major initiatives such as

  • HERA: a joint A.I.S.E./Cefic project
  • DUCC (Downstream User of Chemicals Coordination group): A.I.S.E. is a founding partner of this platform
  • ECHA
  • Cefic REACH platform and working group
