EXPOSURE SCENARIOS
A.I.S.E. use information to support preparation of registration
dossiers
Use description and mapping for cleaning and maintenance
products
To support suppliers (substance registrants) prepare
their chemical safety assessments and reports, A.I.S.E. has developed
comprehensive, use description tables based on the use descriptor
system (see ECHA guidance on chemical safety assessment/report indicates
available on the ECHA website:
http://guidance.echa.europa.eu/docs/guidance_document/information_requirements_r12_en.pdf?vers=20_08_08)
These tables detail all process categories, product
categories and environmental release categories which are relevant
for each use for the cleaning and maintenance products sector. Since
ECETOC Targeted Risk Assessment TRA is seen as the preferred first-tier
exposure assessment tool, uses have been described and exposure
parameters listed in a way that allows running the TRA.
The Downstream Users of Chemicals Co-ordination (DUCC)
Group agreed on a common DUCC format (click
here to download the blank) to describe and report uses, therefore
the tables 2, 3 and 4 follow the DUCC use reporting format.
The lists of uses are expected to cover the vast majority
(>80 %) of the uses of A.I.S.E. members, both large and small
companies. For each use, use descriptors and Environmental Release
Categories (ERCs) are provided. The “product sub-category”
corresponds to entries in the ECETOC TRA, where it is possible to
differentiate products types within a given Product Category. Short
exposure scenario titles are proposed to registrants. The “A.I.S.E.
use code” is mostly for reference. Individual A.I.S.E. members
active in this market sector may wish to report additional uses
on a one-to-one basis to their suppliers.
Manufacturers/Importers (M/I) are encouraged to consider
this list as representative for the sector when they prepare for
use communication to their customers and for exposure scenario development.
Note: since this is work-in-progress (changes
into the ECHA Guidance on use reporting are planned in 2009), the
list provided herewith may not be exhaustive and may be subject
to changes. Suppliers are advised to check this list on a regular
basis.
