A.I.S.E. welcomes efforts to align standards for liquid laundry detergent capsules on a global scale

Positions
A.I.S.E.’s sister organisation, the American Cleaning Institute (ACI), announced on Friday, September 4th 2015, that existing EU safety measures for liquid laundry detergent capsules (LLDC) - in effect since June 2015 under an amendment to the CLP Regulation - are on track for final approval as part of a American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standard. These EU legislative requirements build on and extend a voluntary Product Stewardship Programme (PSP) driven by A.I.S.E

The detergents industry is working in close collaboration with authorities to reduce the incidence of accidental exposure, in particular of small children, to these products. A.I.S.E. is pleased to note the first positive impact of these initiatives on accidental exposures, with a reduction of about 30%. The latest status report is available here.

A.I.S.E. welcomes efforts to align safeguards and standards on a global scale.
