Interview with Sascha Nissen about the sustainability challenges facing the cleaning products industry

Corporate communication
Ahead of Cleaning Products Europe 2018, taking place this March, Sascha Nissen from A.I.S.E. spoke about the main challenges facing the cleaning products industry and why it's important to attend this year's event.

Smithers Apex: What are the main challenges the Cleaning Product industry is facing and how do you think this conference can address them?

Sascha Nissen: From a sustainability point of view, I see good opportunities for business to contribute to the EU Circular Economy package and the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG). Both, the EU and the UN are well aware that global challenges, such as climate change, sustainable consumption and production, sufficient availability of clean water, etc. can only be addressed and solved in a multi-stakeholder approach. In this context, intelligent product design, sustainable raw material selection, efficient production and use of resources, but also responsible consumption are crucial, and it will be important to bring the relevant actors into partnership. Several lectures will address this topic and experts will have the opportunity to connect.

Cleaning Products Europe 2018 takes place on 14-15 March 2018 in Ansterdam. Sascha will speak on behalf of A.I.S.E. on "Learnings from the detergents EU Environmental Footprint pilot and A.I.S.E.’s activities to steer industry’s sustainability progress"
