A.I.S.E. launches second PRODUCT STEWARDSHIP PROGRAMME ON INDOOR AIR EMISSIONS FROM AIR FRESHENERS

Initiatives

On 1 April 2016, A.I.S.E. launched its second product stewardship programme ("PSP 2016”) on indoor air emissions from air fresheners. This programme builds on the success of the 2007 programme and introduces some important changes as well as a monitoring system for participating companies.

The product stewardship programme applies to combustible air fresheners, mainly perfumed candles and incense, as well as other air fresheners such as sprays, including aerosol – mini and pump-sprays, liquid wicks, gels, potpourris, electrical devices and car fresheners. Any company that manufactures and/or places combustible air fresheners and other air fresheners on the market in Europe can participate in this programme.

Participating companies commit to apply voluntary rules and standards to their products in the following areas:

  1. Safety provisions
  2. Product labelling requirements
  3. Information on chemical composition
  4. Product shape specifications
  5. Advertising guidelines
  6. Communication on PSP commitment

A.I.S.E. will ensure the implementation of the voluntary commitment through annual KPI reporting and external third party audits.

All companies interested in signing up to the second PSP (2016) may download the full package of relevant documents here.

The 2007 programme remains active until 1 October 2017.
