Industry statement
A.I.S.E. warns against the alarming and dangerous suggestion made by US President Donald Trump during the White House’s daily coronavirus press briefing on 23 April to check whether injecting bleach and disinfectants inside people’s bodies would help fight against the COVID-19 virus. Industry strongly urges people to ignore the statement.
Bleach products, disinfectants and other cleaning goods are chemical products which should only be used for their intended purposes, while always respecting the manufacturers’ safe-use recommendations. These products should not be considered as non-prescription medicines. Under no circumstances should these products be ingested or used as mouthwash.
Household detergents and maintenance products are safe when used and stored according to the directions on the label.
